Adoption

Please review the following to make sure you are compatible as an adopter. All of our rescues are adoptable, but only to homes suited to care for them. All potential adopters are asked to come visit the farm and the equine, bring two references with at least one being a vet or farrier, and the address and photos of the location the equine will be housed.

Adoption Rules

Picture
  1. HSF does not accept these types of fencing:
    1. Cattle Grates or Cattle Guards of any kind in areas accessible to horses
    2. Barb Wire
    3. Chain Link
    4. Plastic Construction or Snow Fence
    5. Step-In or T-posts (Unless temporary)
  2. All equines must have access to a run-in shed or stall (at least 10'x12' and NOT A STANDING) with footing that is regularly cleaned. Trees are not acceptable as shelter.
  3. Each individual equine must have access to at least 10 gallons of fresh water every day and at least 4-6 flakes of hay a day.
  4. All potential adopters must present photos and the address of where the equine is to be housed.
  5. All potential adopters must submit at least two references (phone numbers work) with one either being a vet or farrier. If this is your first horse and you have yet to have a need for either, we still ask that you submit one outside reference, in conjunction with names and numbers for a potential vet and farrier.
  6. Signer of Adoption Contract MUST BE OVER 18 years of age.

To help aid this process, fill out our application form here.
Holy Spirit Farm does retain the right to visitation (with warning to the property owner) and can seize an equine if the above conditions are not being met and/or the horse has a body condition with a score of 3 or lower. Though this may sound strict, we only have each equine's best interests in mind, and we want all of our adopters to feel the same. If you meet the above requirements, then mosey on over to the Available Horses and fill out THIS adoption application.

Foster

If interested in fostering any available horse, please contact the barn. Potential foster homes will need to fill out a required form, hold a semi-formal interview with HSF staff, and be open to farm visit and farm checks. Adoption rules (listed above) do apply.

For short-term fostering situations, HSF will happily provide vet and farrier care. For long-term foster situations, covered costs will be determined during the interview.
