LEssons
Become part of a fun and relaxed lesson program (for children AND adults) geared towards building a partnership with our equine companions while riding correctly and safely. Our lesson program leans towards non-competitive but we do participate in local shows and can provide more serious instruction for those interested in serious competition, IEA, and 4H. Our English instruction includes up to second level dressage, and beginner/intermediate hunter/jumper. Pleasure and equitation are taught to all riders but can be the primary focus if the rider does not wish to jump or participate in dressage. Western instruction includes equitation and gaming.

1/2 Hour Private - $40

Becca R. is our primary instructor and has been teaching at our facility for the past 14 years. She has been horseback riding since 1999 and has been instructed up to Second Level Dressage, with additional experience in western gaming, hunter/jumper, and general English and Western equitation. She is certified through the American Riding Instructor Association, and as such, adheres to all standards of the program.
When teaching, Becca focuses primarily on riding in a style that promotes body and energy awareness of both the horse and rider, as she believes that a lasting and successful partnership is built upon understanding the mechanics of riding and respect for our partner. She is mainly non-competitive, as is her program, but adjustments can be made for students interested in more serious competition. All students and horses are individuals and are taught as such, with personal goals and timelines in mind. You will hear dad-jokes. |

Beth I. is one of our newer instructors, but that doesn't mean that she's new to teaching. Beth is a CHA certified instructor who has not only ridden most of her life, but has also instructed a wide array of students throughout the years.
Beth focuses on individual goals and progress, often excelling with adults or students who have already had experience riding. She has a drive to succeed and wants her students to find the confidence and joy throughout their own riding journeys. She treats every challenge and obstacle as a learning opportunity and has a great sense of humor if things don't always go as planned. She was also the one who was smart enough to purchase cones with arena lettering. Beth loves every opportunity she has to ride and loves sharing her love of horses with her daughter. |

Aubrey B. is a JT (Junior Trainer). She is a long-time horseback riding student at our farm, and is extremely capable of teaching your daughter or son the ropes of riding!
Aubrey is currently a high school senior and in addition to horses, is actively involved with Hawk Mountain Sanctuary, dance, musical/choreography, and her family's hobby farm. What doesn't she do? Aubrey has been riding at our farm for approximately 9 years and has been training and working with her partner in crime, Maggie Laine, since 2020. She is fun, smart, safe, and sure to make your child's first foray into horseback riding an exceptional experience. |

Kathy R., does not often instruct but usually can be found teaching or lending a helping hand to all riders. She has grown up and worked with horses all of her life and though she once competed frequently, she now prefers to work with her racehorses and the rescues at the barn. Kathy has primarily ridden English throughout her life, but her knowledge is applicable to any sport within the equestrian realm. When she is not helping riders, Kathy is managing the barn and making sure everything is running smoothly.
